litter After I posted Quality Parks Adopts Road To Keep Pine Barrens Cleaner, it took several phone calls to the Town of Brookhaven, some online searching, and finally a visit to Rocky Point to find what Barry's comment was about:
"I have a trail near my house which is only about half a mile long, but my wife and I like it. Unfortunately, there is a lot of trash—cans, bottles bags, etc. The trail is particularly nice because it ends on a cliff overlooking the Long Island Sound. The cliff itself has quite a lot of debris." - Barry

Amazed to find such a nice stretch of open space, I snapped some pictures, made note of the area's interesting features, the dumping situation, and then spotted a potential water view.
First Coastal Sign - strong winds are blowing sand up on the bluff.
"Wow! A sand dune way up high up the bluff."
A welcoming park sign and a no parking sign are posted. Where to park? I'm hoping to work with the town (not sure which department yet) to improve parking. Maybe a few parking spots, for improved public access.
We found tires and other debris along the roadside edge.
" I'm hoping to find someone willing to adopt this section of the roadway."
WHAT YOU CAN DO

Thanks for the great photos Mindy. It would be nice to have parking and it looks like it needs some cleaning up.
Hopw would I get to this cliff? I only know of the one on lower rocky point rd where you park across the street.. theres no welcome sign... and it brings you up to a small cliff, with a georgous view of the sound
