Video on "Illegal dumping in the NJ Pine Barrens"
With the ever present problem of dumping on our pine barrens and other natural areas here on Long Island, it is natural to forget that such issues are generally not unique to our particular geographic area, but are often far more widespread.
This one video which came to my attention recently illustrates this from our companion protected area in the New Jersey Pine Barrens. It is of interest and informative because:
(1) it illustrates the dumping problem is societal in nature, not geographic in focus, and
(2) it demonstrates the grass roots citizen concern about such insults to our natural areas, and
(3) reinforces the need for citizen awareness in promptly reporting dumping sites and incidents to the relevant authorities.
