Public lands, at the Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL), will be used by BP for profit to construct a solar array to produce energy to be sold to the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA). Most of the construction and development costs will be covered by LIPA customers. In the process, they will  cut down 153 acres of trees in the Long Island Pine Barrens. Take a long at a smaller, but similar solar array project at: BP Paulsboro, New Jersey.  Image below - in green - is where trees will be cut.
