Quality Parks Responds To Brookhaven State Park Closure

Yesterday morning, my partner and I chatted during Sunday morning brunch. In passing, he mentioned Governor Patterson's decision to close many parks. Among them would be Brookhaven State Park.

Off-Leash Beach Opens in East Patchogue on Great South Bay

Photocredit: Raymond P. CorwinOff Leash? I'm planning to check out a Hollywood Beach Dog Park because I don't think that it's fenced and I want to see how dog parks work without fencing.

Natural fences? I'm concerned for my safety when jogging and also for dogs getting into ecological sensitive areas and chasing wildlife. The source below suggests that large expanses of land with some snow fencing will contain dogs.

We built pens, raised the chicks, and even introduced the idea to schools, outdoor education programs, and land managers. Wild Turkeys Missing From Long Island Parks

"Questions about wild turkey presence continue well beyond our participation in the NYSDEC Summer Wild Turkey Survey," said Mindy Block, Quality Parks President.  These questions  are relevant and timely, as next week, the USGS is holding a conference in Flagstaff, Arizona, entitled, Collaborative Conservation in Rapidly Changing Landscapes. The online abstracts reveal at least 16 immediately relevant stories, out of nearly 200 presentations.
