With Thanksgiving gone by and Christmas around the corner, I began to think of turkeys and their place on the dinner table. In my Biology class at school, we had studied the wild turkey. Modern domesticated turkeys are very different from wild turkeys. Most domesticated turkeys have white feathers, but some are raised with bronze or brown feathers. I asked my teacher whether she had seen a wild turkey before. "Wild turkeys are common in the east- yes, I have seen one," she replied. What a sight that turkey must have been! I had never heard of wild turkeys in Washington before, and my interest was spurred.
