Wind Map Shows Delicate Tracery Of Wind Flowing

Thank You Nancy Duffrin for sharing this.

This map is a personal art project at Hint.fm, the collaboration site of visualization artists and technologists Fernanda Viegas and Martin Wattenberg, leaders of Google's "Big Picture" visualization research group in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Their intriguing work seeks to create new ways to look at data to stimulate new conversation and understanding.

The Film Shoot

Mindy hasn't picked up a video camera since, well for two years now. She had been experimenting with conservation and education videos for Quality Parks.  I admired her videography efforts.  But for Mindy, she admired Zak, and wished to be out in Hollywood with him.  Well, Hollywood came to Flanders, a few weeks ago.

Comparisons Between Fire Weather Observations (Inputs) and National Fire Danger Rating System Indices (Outputs)

Thank you Mindy Block, Bryan Henry, Joseph J. Charney for the article abstract, quoted below.
- updated April 13th:  Ridge/Manorville Fires, Spring 2012, experienced no ground fire conditions.

Background

Post 1995,  Mindy Block assisted with training Central Pine Barrens Commission staff on Fire Danger reporting and logistics along with a crew of firefighters and forest rangers.  The outcome was the Smokey Bear reporting system for local Fire Danger warnings.
