Tallman Mountain State Park, which includes portions of the Piedmont Marsh, one of the last 5 salt marshes in the Hudson River Estuary. This will be my home park for Quality Parks Master Naturalist training.
Master Naturalist program is officially recognized by: NYS Education Dept and NYS Nursery and Landscape Association
Master Naturalist training offers a general introduction to the natural world. It's a train-the-trainer program, overseen by Quality Parks, officially recognized by CTLE and CNLP to offer professional development credits. March 16,17,18 Workshop and other options are available.

In 2012, our second Master Naturalists session was underway. We met at Indian Island County Park to discuss aesthetics and ecological restoration. We studied how signage and routine trail and road maintenance can have unwanted environmental impacts on park aesthetics.

Why am I a Naturalist? For me, it began with the cutting of my favorite tree -- the tree grew in the Bronx. My family came from Eastern Europe, immigrating to America, where the Statue of Liberty and a message "never forget," signified what little I knew of my Jewish heritage.
