10:30 - 12:30 - Instructor Naturalist Ján Porinchak (see below) will be teaching Nature Journaling and introduce you to the Carmans River habitat from it's uplands to wetlands to river ecology.
Lunch Break - Then meet in the field, a short drive away: at the No Name Park Preserve
2:00-5:00 - Instructor Mindy Block (see below) will be teaching Field Guide usage and Park Jurisdictions, with special insights into public lands stewardship. Finalize and turn in your meaningful homework (via email) before attending the next session.
He has created exceptional educational illustrations depicting marine and other natural history subjects for SeaGrant, Cornell Cooperative, Cary Institute for Ecosystems Studies, and the New York Museum of Natural History, among others. Ján is in his 20th year of teaching art at Jericho Schools, on Long Island. He is a published writer of articles on nature subjects and outdoor activities.
With a M.S. in Environmental Science from Antioch New England, she founded Quality Parks as a charitable nonprofit to improve public lands stewardship.
