Little Bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium)

Salt tolerant, warm season bunch grass for dry soils, provides wildlife cover, a companion plant,  a pollinator host, and bird seed in the fall.
Companion planted with Maryland Golden Aster

Summary

Classification:  herbaceous perennial
Characteristics:  warm season bunch grass
Habitat: dry open woods
Wildlife Benefit: larval host plant for many butterflies,  forage, cover, seeds 
Bloom Period: late spring
Height: 3 ft
Tolerances: sun to part shade, salt spray tolerance
