Proposed Mather Hospital Parking Lot Expansion Impacts Memorial Nature Trail

On a recent snowy day, I discovered The Peter Hildebrand Memorial Nature Trail.  Beautifully quiet and still, it's also threatened by bulldozing and tree cutting.
Mather Hospital - Northwell Health  is “New York’s largest private employer and health care provider, with 22 hospitals and more than 830 outpatient facilities.”
Instead of building up with a parking garage, their initial plans are expansion. The Peter Hildebrand Memorial Nature Trail would likely be impacted.
Why was this memorial nature trail created for  Peter Hildebrand. Who is he? I have no idea, do you?
Earlier this week, I began planning for a proposed Forest Therapy guided walk with Wild Heart Nature Connection for the health and well being of medical staff. We made an initial connection with Mather Hospital, so as to benefit the hospital and staff,  and to also coordinate trail and nature maintenance volunteers.  Below is but one view shed discovered along the memorial trail.

Below left, is the proposed parking lot expansion.  I'm not an expert, but to the best of my knowledge the area of the memorial trail is dotted in red, on the right.  It would be great to field check its location with experts.
Parking lot planned expansion, in gray.
The memorial nature trail area is red dotted.
As Quality Parks President & Founder, I also live in Port Jefferson. I oppose tree cutting to accommodate parking lot expansions. Build up, instead of out.

If the Mather Hospital took the community's health and concerns to heart they would avoid deforestation at all costs and, because it appears there is the option to have their desired helipad (we don't actually have a trauma center at Mather), xtra parking, plus building expansion going vertically, it's not clear why they are insisting on pushing out. To champion our community they might even consider reforesting for a myriad of reasons.

Being sedentary is detrimental to your health. A healthcare facility that really cares for your health (not to make profit on your lack of health) should really encourage walking and exercising. So why not improve on the existing walking trail by offering it to patients as therapeutic outdoor exercise trail, with suggested exercise stations like you see in Europe or in South America rather than as an expanded parking facility than encourages the use of cars that pollute the air we breathe and encourage a sedentary life mode that is detrimental to your health and that of the planet.
