Our Values
Quality Parks has persistently been progressive and action-oriented on a variety of environmental issues including ecological restoration, wildfire situational awareness, endangered species, cleanups, citizen science, wildlife management, public access rights, invasive species, tick bite prevention, and native plant production. We are transparent, open, and honest. We believe that power & love are unlimited resources to be shared. We seek to empower others and ourselves with knowledge, skills, abilities, and financial security. We believe that quality management is good management, and thus strive for excellence in a continual learning environment.
Board Obligations
Board members advance Quality Parks 501(c)(3) mission through internal policy discussion, and by selecting operational tasks that appeal to their personal or professional interest. When Board members represent Quality Parks (values, mission, programs, etc), members need to report back to the Board as to what was discussed. Board members keep current by reviewing the content on our web pages, making suggestions, and attend board meetings as scheduled board (virtual and an hour long).
Nondiscrimination Policy
All persons shall be treated equally without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, age, marital status, disability, economic status, veteran status, or sexual orientation. Quality Parks is a federally recognized, 501(c)(3) charity, since 2000, striving for excellence in a continual learning environment.
Demographic Data
We collect limited demographic data, regarding age ranges and gender of the population we serve. This is collected via applying Google Analytics to our web pages. At some later date, we may collect additional information from the population we serve, as time, grant requirements, and resources allow.
Grievance Procedures
Grievance procedures assure the prompt and fair resolution of complaints. Please Contact - Mindy Block, President, also acting as our Civil Rights Coordinator. She will then relay this information to the Board of Directors for prompt resolution. Contact Us.
Conflict of Interest
It is the responsibility of Quality Parks and those involved in our programs (students, graduates, members, instructors, and coordinators, etc.) to avoid any (and the appearance of any) conflict of interest. A conflict of interest describes a situation in which one is engaging in a Quality Parks program, while at the same time promoting his or her own business or agenda. It is the responsibility of each person to be aware of any (or the appearance of any) conflict of interest and to take immediate action to reduce potential a conflict of interest. If unsure, promptly contact the President who will consult with the board to determine whether a conflict exist.
Grants & Contracts & Revisions
When awarded grants or contracts, and when modifications are needed, Quality Parks and it Board communicates with the awarding agency via phone or email, and may or may not seek written prior approval for specific revisions, on a case by case basis.
Financials & Internal Controls
Quality Parks has no payroll; however, Quality Parks uses internal controls GNUCash, a software program to manage all of our income and expenses, and open for review.
Staffing and Contractors
As of yet, Quality Parks has no salaried positions, because there is no steady revenue stream. In 2020, we're paying Mindy Block, Sustaining Systems, who is also Quality Parks Founder & President, some money for growing, selling, and educating folks about pollinator gardens and tick bite prevention. In prior years, we have partially paid for her health insurance. She has been working mostly pro bono for many years, with minimal funding for services delivered to Quality Parks, excluding her Board related activities. When programs and grants create opportunities to hire instructors and consultants, payment to those involved has been to the best of our abilities, at more than likely substandard rates. Many willingly contribute their time at these lower rates, as passions fuel our charitable services. Anyone who works under Quality Parks has been vetted and is well qualified to complete the work assigned, has high ethical standards, and follows the procedures listed in this policy statement. Each contracted individual will commit to the completion of the job, within reason, as we pay by the project and not by the hour.
