Support Conservation - Explore, Volunteer, Donate
Explore Conservation Data. Volunteer to build data. Donate to present data. Our goal is informed actions to reduce tick bites, climate change, and park vandalism.
Explore Conservation Data
- LI Parks includes any natural area protected as open space. This can include land, freshwater, and coastal waters. Parks can be designated as parklands, nature preserves, pocket parks or large expanses of land. They can be contained in one jurisdiction or multiple jurisdictions, and can have one or multiple park managers.
- Park Resources includes any individual, group, organization, nonprofit, for profit, agency doing environmental good, and varies according to searchable specialty categories, and features how these park resources are taking action on tick bite prevention, climate change, and park vandalism.
Volunteer to Build Data
You don't need to be an expert, just spend time observing, monitoring, & completing online reports. Learn more about the value of collecting data, and conservation. Submitted forms are professionally reviewed, engaging you to improve your knowledge, skills, and abilities. By the way, volunteering doesn't need to be for community service, all are welcome.
- Review a Park - Receive 4 hours of community service for 4 hours of time well spent. Take field notes/photos in selected LI Park.
- Review a Park Resource - Alternatively receive 4 hours of community service to virtually review a selected Park Resource.
Donate to Present Data
Financially contribute. Funds enable us to review incoming volunteer data and "to tally the score" towards visualizing positive change with informed action.
We use scorecards to several reasons. First, is to learn what every park resource to doing on critical conservation issues. Our top contenders include tick bite prevention, climate change, and park vandalism. Second, the more we learn about who is doing what, the more we can ask others or suggest how others can take informed actions. Third, is discovering new possibilities.
Tallied data is presented as scorecards, where the "game" is to improve performance for:
